Paul Shegda, age 98, passed away on September 8, 2019. He was born on October 12, 1920 in Ansonia, Connecticut to his parents, William and Pearl (Harpul) Shegda. Paul was a machinist by trade. He water skied up into his late 80’s. Paul was always tinkering on something. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard, spending time with his family and teaching his grandchildren how to build things. He was married to the love of his life, Julia Shegda for 77 years, who passed away two days before his passing. The love and devotion he had for his wife was so strong it couldn’t keep them apart. Paul and Julia’s marriage was the definition of a “True Love Story”. They were devout Jehovah’s Witnesses and John 5:28,29 was one of their favorite scriptures. He was very active in his ministry. He will be forever loved and remembered by his family and loved ones.
Paul is survived by his son, Paul Shegda, Jr. and wife Anne; grandchildren, Alex Shegda and wife Tabitha, David Shegda and wife Tham, Joshua Shegda and wife Alexandria; great-grandchild, Sarah Shegda, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 77 years, Julia Shegda; his parents and sister.
Julia Shegda, age 99, passed away on September 6, 2019. She was born on May 28, 1920 in Shelton, Connecticut to her parents, Alex and Veronica (Konz) Husti. Julia was an amazing baker. Her specialty was her Hungarian cookies, which she would sell at her parent’s meat market in Shelton. Julia was a very generous and family-oriented woman, who had so much love for her family. She was married to the love of her life, Paul Shegda for 77 years, who passed away two days after his beautiful wife’s passing. The love they shared for each other was so strong it couldn’t keep them apart. They were devout Jehovah’s Witnesses and John 5:28,29 was one of their favorite scriptures. She was very active in her ministry. She will be forever loved and remembered by her family and loved ones.
